Alimony Fix
Our story about Steve Hitner’s efforts to reform alimony rules in Massachusetts sparked a lot of online comments, so much so that we actually shut off accepting comments on the article. All the comments were in support of reforms. Below are two examples:
"This issue needs to be addressed. No one should ever be assessed with alimony payments for life much less be incarcerated because they lose their job in this economy! Thank you Steve Hitner and the members of Mass Alimony Reform."

"The laws need to change to be more specific and not force judges to comply with the current outdated case law. Alimony 'till death do us part' ...ridiculous."

On Their Own
Our latest installment of an occasional series called Independent Streak brought readers the story behind John’s Sport Shop in Gardner. The Main Street business has been led by members of the LeBlanc family for two generations. The story elicited this supportive reader reaction:
"I enjoy giving John's Sport Shop my business and they're always my first choice when I need to buy sports equipment. I find that their prices are in line with those of the box stores, and I'm confident that they stand behind what they sell."
