IS THAT EMAIL REALLY SO IMPORTANT?
The Dec. 10 Digital Diva column by Christina Davis on email pet peeves found a reader who needed to sound off about the high level of “importance” some people place on certain messages:
The major problem with this is that everybody has worked with somebody who sends every email with “high importance.” I’d wager these are the same self-important people who have legal gobbledygook in their email signatures.

SLOTS: NO WIN FOR WORCESTER?
The reported proposal for a hotel and slots parlor on the Wyman-Gordon land near Kelley Square drew this negative reaction:
A slots parlor is not going to generate useful activity in that area. The Twin River casino does not seem to have given Lincoln, R.I., any sort of economic or civic boost.

And on LinkedIn, a group member proposed an alternate vision:
Why not a vision of Worcester as a hub for the arts, culture, health and education, bioscience, business development, entrepreneurship, environmental protection (and) outdoor recreation? Our location is ideal to attract visitors from New England and beyond for so much more than gaming. Seems like a knee-jerk reaction in a down economy.
