For the third consecutive year, the Worcester Business Journal has been honored by an industry trade group, the Alliance of Area Business Publications (AABP), for general editorial excellence.
The WBJ was honored for best newspaper among small local business-to-business tabloids in the United States and Canada, this year capturing a third-place, or “bronze” award. Last year, the WBJ received the second-place, or "silver" award. In 2013, it received bronze.
The award was among more than 100 given to business-to-business publications Saturday at the AABP’s annual summer conference in Charlotte, N.C.
In citing the WBJ, the judges called it a “strong, consistent publication that delivers a broad range of financial, real estate, health care, technology and service sector information to its readership.
“Breakout features … rely on solid reporting and analysis to keep the audience abreast of trends. Considerable attention is paid to business leaders and innovators, reflecting its commitment to keeping the community well informed,” the judges added.
Publisher and CEO Peter Stanton said: “Our editorial and design teams have been doing strong work for years, and it has paid off in our brand being stronger than ever. This kind of external recognition of those efforts is truly rewarding – we’re proud that we can continue to bring this kind of national recognition to Central Massachusetts”
“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve the business community of Central Massachusetts through our work,” WBJ Editor Rick Saia added. “Our editorial mission – be it in print or online – is predicated on what our readers want to know. That’s never perfect. And while we pay close attention to the feedback we receive from our readers, we’re grateful that the judges for this year’s AABP awards again recognized us for what we aim to do best every day: Write for the interests of our readers.”
