In order to increase its outreach to the Central Massachusetts business community, Worcester Business Journal has hired Laura Finaldi as staff writer for its manufacturing and technology beats, including biotechnology.
Finaldi, who started with WBJ in early December, also will cover higher education, energy, the finance and insurance industries, and nonprofits.
In her role, Finaldi will contribute regularly to WBJ print and online, and she will continue the publication's tradition of being the primary provider of market intelligence and thought leadership for the region's key industries.
"Laura is incredibly smart and a very strong writer, and readers can expect her to make an immediate impact on the quality of our articles," WBJ Editor Brad Kane said. "Having her out in the community conversing with the region's business leaders will increase our presence and reach in Central Massachusetts."
Finaldi previously covered the town of Smithfield for the News & Observer in North Carolina and was a business intern at the Boston Globe. She is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston and a fanatic of television shows about Washington, D.C. like Scandal, West Wing and House of Cards.
"I am very excited and honored to be part of the WBJ team," Finaldi said. "I look forward to getting out in the community and learning more about issues that are important to our readers."
