It's our 14th annual celebration of up-and-comers in the Central Massachusetts business arena.
Like their 520 alumni, the members of the 40 Under Forty Class of 2013 all have unique stories to tell: from how they discovered their callings, to who inspired them most, to the unique hobbies they engage in outside of work. For example, this year's class includes:
• An immigrant who entered the United States at the age of 4 and owes a lot to his mother and sisters, who emigrated with him;
• An honoree who has earned four promotions in less than four years;
• A hair stylist who has appeared on a reality TV show;
• A former employee of the office of the president of Uzbekistan.
• Six entrepreneurs; and
• Two editors of publications based in Central Massachusetts.
This year's honorees were selected after a months-long call for nominations. We received dozens of them, and added a few who didn't quite make the cut last year. We then turned to this year's panel of judges — Barbara Clifford of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce, Rodney Capron of Pongo LLC and Synthenet Corp. in Northborough (and a 40 Under Forty honoree, Class of 2008), Joe Cox of The Ecotarium in Worcester, and Maureen Grenier of Mirick O'Connell (a 40 Under Forty honoree, Class of 2010) — for their feedback (see their profiles here). Each nomination was evaluated based on the individual's career trajectory, as well as his or her commitment to the local community. See each honoree's biography below.

(We’d also like to extend a special “thank you” to the Worcester Art Museum for allowing us to use their Renaissance Court for this year’s 40 Under Forty photo shoot in July.)
