WBDC loans $1.8M to new businesses

The Worcester Business Development Corp. said two companies that have established operations in Central Massachusetts have taken out nearly $1.8 million in loans from the agency.

The WBDC said the $1,779,000, which comes from a program it administers through the U.S. Small Business Administration, will help Cobble Hill Trailer Sales, based in Milton, Vt., with its expansion plans into the Massachusetts and Connecticut markets through a new regional office on Eskow Road in Worcester. The other beneficiary, IF Engineering Corp., based in Fabyan, Conn., acquired 7.4 acres of land on Foshay Road in Dudley and built an 18,000-square-foot building there to house its operations and those of its affiliate, CrossPoint Technologies Inc.

Cobble Hill is a full-service trailer dealership that also repairs and maintains customers’ trailers. IF Engineering designs and manufactures components and sub-systems of radio frequency signals, which are used in both military and commercial applications.
