Waters Corp., a Milford producer of scientific software and other products, had second-quarter sales of $558 million, a 4-percent growth, the company reported Tuesday.
Net income for the company rose to $132 million, a year-to-year increase of just under 3 percent.
Sales fell in the Americas by 3 percent in the quarter ending June 30, but grew by 14 percent in Asia and 5 percent in Europe. Those trends remained consistent from the prior quarter.
Waters stock fell sharply Tuesday on the earnings report, from $185 at the close of trading Monday to $175 at the opening bell Tuesday. Shares of the company were at an all-time high earlier in the month at $186.
Waters has about 7,000 employees worldwide and operates directly in 31 countries, including 15 manufacturing facilities.
