Waters product wins approval in China

A neonatal screening device made by Milford-based Waters Corp. has secured regulatory approval in China, clearing the way for promotion and sale in that country, the company announced.

The Acquity UPLC TQD system, which provides routine diagnoses and screens for neonatal diseases, is the second Waters mass spectrometer approved for in vitro diagnostic applications in China by the Chinese Food and Drug Administration, according to a statement from Waters.

The approval could make the device available to up to millions of Chinese citizens, the company said.
