Waters partners with multi-national disease researchers

Milford’s Waters Corp. has announced a partnership with an international group seeking to examine the intersection of genes and environment when determining who gets diseases such as cancer and autism.

The company announced that it will be supporting a consortium of leading research centers from six different countries with chromatography and mass spectrometry equipment and expertise. With every institution using the same equipment and procedures, it will allow a new level of metabolic phenotyping examining the interplay of genes with the environment when it comes to health conditions like autism, cancer, diabetes, dementia and obesity.

The new venture was started by the MRC-NIHR National Phenome Centre (NPC) at Imperial College London. The IPCN includes more than a dozen international partners with regional, multi-institutional hubs in Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, the United States and the United Kingdom.
