Milford-based laboratory equipment maker Waters Corp. said it made a $75.5 million profit in the first quarter on $367.7 million in sales.
In the same period a year ago, the company made a $73.3 million profit on sales of $333.1 million.
The company boosted operating income from $85.5 million a year ago to $90.1 million and ended the quarter with $692.2 million in cash and equivalents compared to $630.3 million.
Waters equipment is used in labs in the health care, environmental, food safety and water quality industries. The company said demand for its products and improving markets for its customers contributed to the quarter’s results.
