Milford life sciences company Waters Corp. has reported Sherry Buck will step down as chief financial officer at the end of December.
According to a release from the company, Buck is stepping down to pursue another opportunity at a privately held company. Buck has served in the role for the last four years.
Upon her departure on Dec. 31, the vice president and corporate controller, Michael Silveira, will take on the role of interim CFO.
“We are pleased to have a leader of Mike’s caliber to serve as interim CFO. Throughout his 16 years at Waters, Mike has developed a deep understanding of our business, strategy and financial goals,” said Dr. Udit Batra, president and CEO of Waters.
Silveira joined Waters in 2004 as assistant corporate controller. He was appointed vice president and corporate controller in 2013, and, in 2018, gained increased responsibilities including oversight of treasury, tax and corporate financial planning and analysis. He is a CPA and has held several senior financial management positions with AstroNova, Textron, Inc. and KPMG.
Waters has been actively working with a leading search firm to identify a permanent CFO, according to the release, and the company already has several strong internal and external candidates.
