Laboratory equipment manufacturer Waters Corp. of Milford has acquired Nonlinear Dynamics, a U.K.-based maker of proteomics and metabolomics analysis software that it has been working with on a product for nearly two years, according to the two companies.
Nonlinear Dynamics is best known for its Progenesis software, which offers researchers unique ways to analyze and visualize raw data related to proteins expressed by a genome, cell, tissue or organism, Waters said.
The price and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Waters and Nonlinear Dynamics had previously collaborated on the development of Waters’ TransOmics Informatics, a scalable software product for proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics analysis, the Waters statement said.
“The opportunity to combine Nonlinear Dynamics’ informatics expertise with Waters worldwide leadership in chromatography and mass spectrometry will continue to create significant benefits for omics-focused scientists and laboratories,” said Rohit Khanna, a vice president of informatics and worldwide marketing for Waters. “Proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics hold vast potential for understanding the mechanisms of diseases, the development of innovative therapeutics, and discovering biomarkers for translational research.”
Waters, which employs nearly 1,350 in Milford, took in about $1.83 billion in revenue in 2012.
