The Worcester Art Museum and Fitchburg Art Museum are two of 29 arts organizations from across Massachusetts to be awarded a piece of a $25-million investment and a part in a Boston-based arts initiative.
Worcester Art Museum will get two grants totaling $600,000 over three years from the Barr-Klarman Family Foundation to take part in the Karr-Klarman Massachusetts Arts Initiative.
Museum director Matthias Wascheck said in a press release the contributions will ensure the long-term financial health of the museum.
“This multi-year award represents an important investment in an institution that is vital to the entire Worcester region,” Wascheck said.
In addition to the grants, the museum will get training and technical assistance from TDC, a nonprofit consulting and research firm.
The Fitchburg Art Museum received $300,000 from the Barr-Klarman Family Foundation to take part in the Karr-Klarman Massachusetts Arts Initiative, as well. FAM will receive assistance from TDC, too.
“This unprecedented funding is an enormous vote of confidence in the work that we have been doing here in Fitchburg to support education and the revitalization of our region. This initiative will help us to successfully complete our current strategic plan, and to sustain FAM for future generations," said FAM Director Nick Capasso.
