Walden Behavioral Care acquires Atlanta provider

Contributed Walden Behavioral Care CEO Stuart Koman said the company's acquisition of a Georgia provider will establish an integrated care system for patients with eating disorders living in that region.

Walden Behavioral Care, an eating disorder treatment provider with operations in Central Massachusetts, has acquired an Atlanta company specializing in the same area of medicine, expanding Walden’s footprint beyond New England.

With the acquisition of the Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders (ACE), based in Dunwoody, Ga., Waltham-based Walden now has 14 locations across Massachusetts, Connecticut and Georgia, according to a statement from the company on Monday. ACE operates partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient programs in Alpharetta, Decatur and Dunwoody, Ga. Those programs, as well as all clinical and administrative staff, will be maintained, Walden said.

The acquisition establishes a regional, full-system of care for patients with eating disorders, according to Walden CEO Stuart Koman.

“This acquisition is about bringing together two organizations with a shared vision and commitment to providing high-quality treatment and support as close to home as possible, through all levels of care, “ Koman said in the statement.

In Central Massachusetts, Walden has outpatient clinics in Worcester and Milford.
