Wal-Mart is asking the state Division of Banks to allow it to establish a check cashing operation at its 25 Tobias Boland Way location in Worcester.
The DOB has scheduled a public hearing on the request for Thursday at 6 p.m. in Worcester City Hall.
The public’s opportunity to comment on the retail giant’s request to operate a check cashing office expires Aug. 19.
Wal-Mart opened the 209,000-square-foot store in May just off the southbound side of Route 146.
