Wachusett Mountain Ski Area in Princeton officially marked the start of its ski season on Friday, sending its first chair out at 8:30 a.m., according to its press release.
The ski center attributed November’s cold snap to making the start possible, allowing for crews to pump out coverage on four different trails. Skiing and riding is enabled for skiers of all abilities.
“After months of planning and preparation for this unusual season, we’re very proud of our team to work so hard to get open and allow our guests a chance to get outside and enjoy some healthy winter recreation,” said Wachusett President Jeff Crowley, in the press release.
Wachusett says it was among one of the first eastern ski centers to open for the 2020-2021 season. It will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then reopen on Friday, Nov. 27.
The ski area has put in a number of measures to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, including requiring masks for everyone in the base area, limiting the number of guests in certain areas, and installing plexiglass barriers in the places where social distancing is not possible.
