According to the national trade group Brewers Association, Westminster beermaker Wachusett Brewery is now among the top 50 craft breweries in the country when ranked by beer sales volume.
The updated list, released last week, has Wachusett ranked at No. 49 and the only Central Massachusetts brewer on the list.
The association has not yet disclosed the amount of beer produced at each brewery listed, but according to the WBJ’s Research Department, Wachusett reported 70,000 barrels produced last year, dwarfing the 51,000 produced in 2016 and the 46,750 reported in 2015.
According to WBJ, Wachusett Brewery has been the most productive Central Mass. beermaker since at least 2015.
The brewery in December opened its 3,000-square-foot indoor brew yard and has since partnered with a former Guinness brewer to release a New England-style stout.
Other Massachusetts brewers on the craft brewer list include Sam Adams brewer Boston Beer Co. (2) and Harpoon Brewery (18) in Boston, both of which also made the association’s top 50 list of all brewers at No. 9 and No. 28, respectively.
