A South Carolina-based insurer that counts Worcester-based Paul Revere Life Insurance Company (owned by Unum) among its partners said the future of workplace benefits remains uncertain in many ways, but said companies can expect to see several trends in 2012.
Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Co. predicted that critical illness insurance will continue to attract new customers; voluntary insurance sales will see a strong rebound, but life insurance sales will continue to fall; employees will increasingly use internet-based tools to make insurance decisions; and government sector employers will focus on cost containment measures for their benefits plans.
