Veterans Inc. has received $430,000 to support behavioral health services for veterans and their families, as part of a the new $1.5-trillion federal appropriations bill passed in early March.
The funds will be used to build a Level 4 Medically Managed Intensive Inpatient Services facility at Veteran Inc.’s Independence Hall Treatment Center in Shrewsbury, according to a press release Friday from Congressman Jim McGovern (D-Worcester), who advocated for the funding.
This site will provide access to a supervised detoxification service that previously required placing patients on a waiting list, according to the Friday announcement. McGovern is scheduled to announce the funding noon Monday during a visit to the 59 South St. site in Shrewsbury.
Veterans Inc. is the largest provider of supportive services to veterans and their families in New England and the only licensed veteran-focused provider of substance addiction services in the region.
