New Jersey-based Valeritas, which has a research and development center in Shrewsbury, announced today it dispensed its 10 millionth insulin injection alternative.
The dispensing milestone for V-Go, Valeritas’ wearable and discreet alternative to multiple daily insulin injections, is a signal that prescribers and patients are increasingly turning to it in place of insulin pen or syringe injections, according to Valeritas. V-Go, which delivers a steady rate of insulin 24 hours a day and on-demand dosing during mealtimes and snacks, has demonstrated its clinical effectiveness by lowering A1C levels in diabetes patients at lower prescribed insulin doses and similar costs to traditional treatments.
Ten million V-Go devices is equivalent to 28,000 patients on therapy every day for a year, according to Valeritas.
