Developers of an Uxbridge solar facility have been fined $18,000 by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) for reportedly violating wetlands protection regulations.
The fine relating to the facility at 363 Quaker Highway in Uxbridge that was built by WC Origination 10, LLC of Boston was announced by the agency on Wednesday. According to MassDEP, the organization inspected the facility at the request of the Uxbridge Conservation Commission in April of 2015. During that inspection, it was found that protective conditions were not followed, resulting in discharges of silt and sediment and the filling of approximately 10,000 square feet of bordering vegetated wetland.
As part of the settlement, BWC Original 10 must pay $14,400, with the remaining penalty amount suspended as long as the company complies with all provisions in the order. These provisions include stabilizing the site and construction of improved stormwater management and have already been completed.
