Southboro-based UpdateLogic, Inc. announced a non-exclusive agreement with CableLabs, a CO-based non-profit R&D consortium to use UpdateTV software for upgrades to digital television devices.
UpdateTV allows for patches and software upgrades to be transferred automatically to digital TV devices, at no charge to the end-user. The “in-band” distribution of upgrades will be delivered within PBS channels across the U.S. As part of the agreement, UpdateLogic will modify the technology behind the software to be compatible with CableLabs specifications, and to offer UpdateTV to the consumer electronics industry.
UpdateTV will be commercially available in 2007.
