Unitil Corp., the New Hampshire-based utility that has come under fire for its reaction to the December ice storm in Central Massachusetts, has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.345 per share.
Shareholders will receive the money on Feb. 16.
The dividend results in a current effective annual dividend rate of $1.38 per share.
In Massachusetts Unitil provides electricity to Fitchburg, Lunenburg, Ashby and Townsend and natural gas to those communities plus Westminster and Gardner.
According to media reports, Unitil plans to request an increase to its electricity rates in part to compensate for the costs of the ice storm.
