Twenty-five local nonprofits have split $440,000 in funding from the Southbridge-based United Way of South Central Massachusetts aimed at supporting services addressing needs throughout the region, including food insecurity, homelessness, and mental health.

The grants are funded through the UWSCM’s annual campaign with the theme of bridging the
gap, according to a Sept. 27 press release from UWSCM. Grant recipients were selected based on their agency’s mission, programs, and community impact.

With grants starting at $2,500, the Boys & Girls Club of Webster-Dudley received the most funding from UWSCM with a $120,000 grant.

“By supporting these trusted partner agencies and nonprofits, we are able to make sure everyone thrives. We are able to link people to the resources and services they need and make sure that vulnerable populations get the help they deserve, keeping our community strong and connected,” Shana Bandelean, UWSCM campaign chair, said in the release.
