United Way Awards $2.8M To Area Agencies

Thirty-five agencies were awarded nearly $2.8 million from the United Way of Central Massachusetts, as a result of the nonprofit’s latest grant cycle.

Through the 35 agencies, 51 programs serving the greater Worcester community received Community Impact Grant funding to provide services in education, health and family stability or are helping area residents with immediate needs such as food, housing and crisis intervention through Safety Net Funding.

The money was divided by women’s initiatives ($389,324), direct community service ($995,742), donor designations ($872,629), safety net ($889,000), Creating Community Change grants ($1,873,000) and other community grants ($642,621).

Through these and other programs, the United Way of Central Massachusetts will invest more than $5.7 million this year in, on programs that serve people in 30 cities and towns in Central Massachusetts.
