United Solutions, a Leominster manufacturer of buckets, bins and other storage goods, has paid more than $4 million for a sprawling warehouse just down the street from its current operations.
The sale was announced Friday by the Stubblebine Co., which represented the seller, Jytek Industrial Trust, and procured United Solutions as the buyer. The $4.25-million deal closed Nov. 6.
United Solutions has been leasing the site as a warehouse for about 10 years and chose to buy the site instead of renting, said Fred Beauregard, the company's vice president for sales and marketing.
"Business continues to do well for us," Beauregard said of the company's move to buy the site.
United Solutions got its start in 1919 and was known for decades as United Comb & Novelty and then United Plastics. It was family owned until 2018 when it was bought by the private equity firm Camber Holdings of Boston.
The company has been the sole licensee since 2017 of Rubbermaid storage products, and it also produces paint buckets, as well as outdoor trash cans it sells to Walmart and Lowe's, among others, Beauregard said.
United Plastics is based today at 33 Patriots Circle, about three buildings down from 75 Jytek Drive, the building it bought from Jytek Industrial Trust of Boston.
The single-story building at 75 Jytek Drive spans roughly 130,000 square feet on more than six acres. It was last assessed by the City of Leominster at $2.8 million. United Solutions' building at 33 Patriots Circle covers 171,000 square feet on 22 acres.
