Unemployment rates rose slightly in July, but remained low across Central Massachusetts, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released on Tuesday by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The Worcester metropolitan area rose one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.1%, still down from 4.1% year over year.

The Leominster-Gardner area ticked up to 3.2% from 3% in June. A year ago, the rate was 4.5%.

Unemployment in the Framingham area remained the lowest in the region at 2.6% even after a one-tenth of a percentage point rise from June. That’s still down from 3.3% in July 2022.

The Athol area saw its unemployment rate tick up 0.2 percentage points in July from the 3.4% rate it had in June. The area’s rate is down year over year from its 4.7% rate in July 2022.

All of the Central Massachusetts geographical divisions saw a decrease in labor force over the month, while there was a rise statewide since June.
