The national unemployment rate dropped 0.1 percentage points to 7.5 percent in April, as the country added 165,000 jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Jobs were added in professional and business services, food services and drinking places, retail trade, and health care, BLS said.

The BLS also revised its March job figure of 88,000 to 138,000.

Since January, the unemployment rate has fallen by 0.4 percentage points.

The number of people unemployed for 27 weeks or more fell by 258,000 to 4.4 million in April. Over the past year, the number of “long-term unemployed” has fallen by 687,000.
