The University of Massachusetts system, which includes UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, is requiring all its students, faculty, and staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccine booster, according to a Tuesday press release from UMass.
The mandate will impact 75,000 students at 18,000 faculty and staff members across the five-campus system, including UMass Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, Lowell, and the medical school.
Nearly 100% of students and staff are vaccinated, per the release, as UMass also required the vaccine this fall.
UMass Chan announced it would expand its vaccine requirement to include a booster shot on Dec. 22. Other Central Massachusetts colleges with a booster requirement include Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Clark University in Worcester.
