UMass Online Reports Enrollment, Revenue Growth

UMass Online, the online division of the University of Massachusetts, increased its enrollment by 18 percent and brought in revenue of $46.8 million in its 2009 fiscal year.

For the previous year, the program reported revenue of $36.9 million. For 2009, enrollment was 40,020 compared to 33,900 the prior year. Fiscal 2009 was the eighth consecutive year in which the Shrewsbury-based program has reported double-digit enrollment and revenue increases.

The university said its online program offers 83 programs and 1,500 courses and has seen sharp gains in the number of national and international prospective student inquiries. UMass online has begun an initiative to bring the program to China and last month completed a specialized web site tailored to the Chinese market.
