U.S. News & World Report ranked UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester the top hospital in the region, with Milford Regional Medical Center coming in second.
The magazine, which is set to publish its 22nd annual guide to the nation’s best hospitals next month, ranked 4,825 hospitals from around the country and identified 587 of them as having a specialty or being high-performing in at least one of 16 areas.
UMass Memorial Medical Center had nine specialties ranked by the magazine including: Cancer; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; orthopedics; pulmonology and urology.
Milford Regional Medical Center’s high-ranking specialties included: Ear, nose and throat; gynecology and orthopedics.
