UMass Memorial Medical Group of Worcester has appointed Dr. Eric Dickson as senior medical director.
Dickson is a UMass Medical School graduate and completed his residency training in emergency medicine at UMass.
In his new position, he will oversee clinical operations of the medical group, which employs 800 physicians. He will also work at UMass Memorial Medical Center as an emergency department physician and at the medical school as a professor of emergency medicine.
After his residency, Dickson served as director of research at the UMass Memorial Emergency Medicine Department. He left the UMass system in 2003 to serve as the founding chair of emergency medicine at the University of Iowa, and later served as interim COO of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic.
Besides his medical degree, Dickson has a master’s degree in health care management from the Harvard School of Public Health. He lives in Princeton with his family.
