UMass Memorial Health on Thursday celebrated the official merger with Harrington HealthCare, which has operations in Southbridge and Webster, as well as other outposts.
Thursday, July 1, officially marked what the healthcare provider called the beginning of the UMass Memorial Health-Harrington era.
A celebration including several VIPs, including Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders, took place Thursday morning in Southbridge.
“We will share important healthcare information to improve the health of the people in our diverse communities,” UMass Memorial Health President and CEO Eric Dickson said during the celebration.
The two networks announced their plan to merge in January 2020. UMass Memorial has said it plans $42 million in capital expenditures as part of the merger, and plans to keep existing medical services in place for at least five years.
