Employees at UMass Memorial Health in Worcester are among millions affected by a ransomware attack the Lowell-based workforce management company Kronos Inc., resulting in discrepancies in some staff members’ pay, the healthcare provider confirmed Thursday morning.

“Our finance, payroll and information technology teams have been working tirelessly to find solutions that have allowed us to issue paychecks on schedule since the outage began…We have assured all our caregivers that any discrepancies in pay or time accruals will be reconciled,” UMass Memorial said in a statement.

The ransomware attack at Kronos was first detected on Saturday, Dec. 11, according to updates on the Kronos website. The attack specifically affected what the company calls Kronos Private Cloud, where a handful of services and systems are deployed.

As of Thursday morning, there did not appear to be an expected resolution date, although Kronos said it would update its clients by the end of the week.
