Eric Dickson, the president and CEO of UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester, will donate his paycheck to the UMass Emergency Assistance Support for Employees Fund until Gov. Charlie Baker lifts the state of emergency declaration, the healthcare provider announced in a Friday press release.
Dickson made $2 million in total compensation in fiscal 2017, the last year for which data is available, including a $1.1 million, according to UMass Memorial's filings with the Internal Revenue Service, as made available through the nonprofit data site Guidestar.
Dickson's wife, Cathy Dickson, an emergency medicine physician, will join her husband in the effort. The donations began during last week's payroll distribution.
The UMass fund provides emergency grants for employees unable to meet immediate, essential expenses, per the press release.
Gov. Charlie Baker announced a statewide state of emergency on March 10, in response to the coronavirus crisis. It remains unclear when the order will expire.
