UMass Memorial Health Care will keep up to 500 administrative workers at the Worcester Business Center for another decade, the hospital and landlord announced Monday.
UMass was an original tenant going back to when the Worcester Business Center was created nearly a decade ago. Its lease for 85,000 square feet will be extended now for another 10 years.
In all, the five-story Worcester Business Center includes 265,000 square feet and hosts more than 20 businesses. UMass said in a statement it enjoys the development's ample parking and convenient location on Millbrook Road adjacent to where I-290 and I-190 meet.
The former manufacturing mill was developed by Boston-based Franklin Realty Advisors, which spent $8 million turning it into an office complex. Franklin Realty has also redeveloped the Mercantile Center on Front Street in downtown Worcester, where UMass has about 92,000 square feet of office space for information-technology workers.
