UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester has received a three-year, accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a part of the American College of Surgeons.
According to the hospital, the accreditation is given to centers that demonstrate the highest level of quality breast care and undergo a rigorous evaluation process. The center has to demonstrate compliance with NAPBC standards for treating women diagnosed with breast diseases. This includes proficiency in center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.
“We are pleased and honored to have been acknowledged by the NAPBC for our comprehensive breast program,” said Robert Quinlan, director of the Comprehensive Breast Center at UMass Memorial. “NAPBC accreditation sets us apart from other care providers in the region. It is the result of our commitment to providing high-quality, technologically-advanced compassionate care to our patients.”
