UMass Medical School student Grace McKay-Corkum has been named one of just 37 Medical Research Scholars by the National Institutes of Health, and one of just two from Massachusetts.
McKay-Corkum is a third-year School of Medicine student from Rehoboth. Her inclusion was announced earlier this month.
McKay-Corkum will spend a year in residence conducting an independent biomedical research project under the mentorship of principal investigators at the NIH headquarters in Bethesda, Md. She conducted research at the NIH while an undergraduate at Smith College in Northampton and after she graduated.
UMass Medical School previously had Medical Research Scholars in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
