Kola A. Akindele of Worcester has joined the University of Massachusetts Medical School as community relations associate in the department of community and government relations.
Akindele will strengthen and promote the medical school's relationships with community organizations and regional leaders, advancing the missions of both the community and the medical school.
He joins UMMS from SBA Network Services, where he was counsel and a senior zoning specialist. Previously, he practiced law in Worcester, with a focus on licensing, zoning, land use and corporate organization.
A member of Worcester's Zoning Board of Appeals, Akindele is also a coordinator for the African Council, and a board member of the Oak Hill Community Development Corp. and Holy Name High School.
Akindele is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Boston and Northeastern University School of Law. As a law student, Akindele organized and lobbied for AIDS support in Lagos, Nigeria.
