Commonwealth Medicine, the consulting and operations division of UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, has hired Andrea Bresnahan as executive director of the Nursing Council on Workforce Sustainability, part of a statewide initiative centered around tackling nursing shortages in the state.
Bresnahan, who holds a doctorate in advanced nursing practice, most recently served as director of nursing at MassBay Community College in Wellesley.
The NCWS was created by the Massachusetts Healthcare Collaborative Nursing Task Force with the state’s Executive office of Health and Human Services and the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce development, per the announcement.
Commonwealth Medicine will lead NCWS with the aim of bringing together stakeholders from across Massachusetts, focusing on creating a diverse and robust statewide nursing workforce.
