UMass Chan moves forward with plans for regional Burlington campus

UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester and Lahey Hospital and Medical Center of Burlington are moving forward with plans to establish a regional campus at Lahey Hospital.
The two parties signed a master affiliation agreement, which comes after a letter of intent signing announced in August. The new campus would be called UMass Chan-Lahey, , according to a Dec. 7 press release.
The next step in the process would cover review and approval of establishing a UMass Chan-Lahey by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. That decision is expected around March, according to UMass Chan.
If all goes as planned, the first students would study at the campus in summer of 2024, with plans to enroll about 25 students each year. Students in the program would do all their studies through UMass Chan in Worcester, while their clinical work would take place at Lahey.
