Ross Express, a freight company based in New Hampshire, has outgrown its Sutton outpost and is looking to open an Auburn warehouse and distribution center to accommodate its need.
The proposal went before the Auburn Planning Board for site approval last Tuesday, although no decision was made, and the public hearing continued.
The application process is being handled by Turning Point Engineering of Milford on behalf of JM Coull, a general contractor based in Maynard, who will be doing the work.
According to the presentation, JM Coull plans to build a facility on 32 acres of land located at 190 Washington St.. The proposed facility would have 3,500 square feet of office space and 44,800 square feet of warehouse space.
Several abutters at the meeting expressed concern about lighting, noise and traffic associated with the construction and maintenance of the facility.
Ross Express has operated its facility in Sutton since 2003, according to the application, and does not plan to expand its workforce following the projected move to Auburn.
