Ride The Woo has purchased its first trolley.
The $115,000 vehicle that’s really a bus will allow Ride The Woo app users to navigate the downtown in what the privately-held Worcester company calls a fun and exciting experience.
Service is set to begin when Polar Park, the new home of the Worcester Red Sox, opens in the Canal District next year.
Ride The Woo is a service company focused on connecting customers to retail, sports, dining, hospitality and entertainment.
Ben White, Ride The Woo’s vice president, said the company is in talks to partner with downtown businesses.
“We deliver patrons to local shops and restaurants with priority stops,” he said.
So far, White said two dozen businesses have signed on, but Ride the Woo still in the early stages of marketing.
Riders who use the bus must show a code they received from the merchant they patronized to ride for free.
Aaron Perna, president of Ride The Woo LLC, said the trolley purchase is a milestone emphasizing his organization’s dedication to serving Worcester’s downtown business, retail, sports, dining, hospitality, and entertainment areas.
The trolley will be delivered in March, he said.
“Over the next year, people will look, touch and feel the experience,” he said in a statement.
