TrimTabs: U.S. Added 135-155K Jobs In January
TrimTabs Investment Research, a California firm that issues its own jobs report each month, said the U.S. economy gained between 135,000 and 155,000 jobs in January.
That's down from the firm's December estimate of 145,000 to 165,000. TrimTabs bases its estimates on daily income tax receipts from the U.S. Treasury.
The firm said wages and salaries grew 11.9 percent year over year in January, compared to an increase of 8.2 percent in December.
The federal government will release its own jobs report on Friday. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics bases its estimates on two of its own surveys.
