Gov. Charlie Baker said Sunday restaurants will be able to serve only take-out orders, banning patrons from dining in and potentially helping to spread coronavirus.

But for some, the outbreak is a reason to temporarily close their doors to all.

Among those choosing that route in Central Massachusetts are at least three major industry names: Tree House Brewing in Charlton and Wormtown Brewery and deadhorse hill in Worcester. Tree House and deadhorse hill said Sunday they will be closed for the foreseeable future, and Wormtown plans to close for the next two weeks.

"As stubborn as we are, and as anxious as we are to serve you, we cannot ignore the gravity of the situation we are currently facing," said Nathan Lanier, Tree House co-founder and head brewer, in a blog post.

Deadhorse hill posted a thank-you and a plea for help for small businesses.

"In the meantime, if you want to help us and all small businesses alike, gift cards will be a valuable way to help us make ends meet while our doors are closed and give you something to look forward to when they open again," Deadhorse hill said on Instagram. "Thank you so much to everyone who has trusted us and supported us. To our peers in the industry, we are all facing the struggle together and we are all going through this with you, our thoughts are with you and we will miss you, but can't wait until we can all connect when the dust settles."

Wormtown posted a shorter note on its social media feeds, saying it intended to reopen.

"Out of an abundance of caution...our taprooms will be closed for the next two weeks. Stay tuned for more updates. Don’t Worry...Be Hoppy," the brewery said in a Facebook post.

O'Connor's Restaurant & Bar in Worcester has said it will close until April 7.

Worcester's biggest restaurant groups are largely staying open, except only for pick-up and deliveries.

Niche Hospitality will keep open all restaurants except Still & Stir and the Leominster location of the Mexican restaurant Mezcal, which will both close until April 6. Worcester Restaurant Group is keeping its four Worcester restaurants open.
