Tree House Brewing to launch coffee program

Tree House Brewing Co. has made dozens of its coffee beers a regular option for retail sales and taproom tasting at its Charlton brewery.

Now, the brewery will have even more control over those creations, as the company has begun roasting its own coffee to create coffee blends used in its beers, the brewery said in a post on its website Friday.

The brewery, since it was founded in 2011, has been working with local roasters to produce its selection of coffee-flavored beers, like Single Shot, Double Shot, Abstraction Coffee and many others. Now, everything will be made in house.

Aside from beer, Tree House will soon introduce a selection of coffee — cold brew, nitro cold brew and hot coffee — for its retail shop, brewery co-founder Nate Lanier said in a blog post.

The new offering gives the brewery even more control over the ingredients used for its world-renowned beer, as the news is fresh on the heels of Tree House’s purchased of a Connecticut farm where it is growing its own fruit to be used for beers.

“An overarching and plainly stated theme of the Tree House long game is to be in direct control of every variable possible in our product and presentation, thus making it exactly as we intend it to be, and uniquely ours in a way that is irreplicable,” Lanier said.

Tree House was the fastest-growing regional brewer in Massachusetts last year, growing by 130% as it enjoyed its first full year in its 52,000-square-foot Charlton location, according to national trade group Brewers Association.
