Training Budgets Under The Knife

More than a quarter of employers interviewed for a recent Accountemps survey said they had cut back on training programs at their firms.

But while that may indicate widespread reductions in training budgets across the accounting and finance industry, another 28 percent of respondents to the survey said they had expanded their training efforts.

Accountemps, a temporary staffing agency for the accounting and finance industry, said employers may be tempted to scale back on training during challenging times but saving some money by doing so could jeopardize future employee recruitment and retention efforts.

Forty-five percent of respondents said their companies had made no changes to their employee training programs.
