The TJX Cos., headquartered in Framingham, announced it will furlough the majority of its hourly retail and distribution center employees after Saturday, CEO and president Ernie Herrman announced on Tuesday.

Senior executives and board members will also reduce their salaries, Herrman said.
A spokesperson for TJX declined to specify how many employees this will impact and said the company will not make that number public. The company has about 270,000 employees worldwide, including more than 4,000 in Central Massachusetts, according to WBJ’s Research Department
Herrman said benefits like healthcare coverage will continue during the temporary furlough, at no cost to employees.
The furloughs apply across all TJX brands, which includes TJ Maxx, Homegoods and Marshalls.
