TJX Reports Weak Q4

Framingham-based discount retailer TJX Cos. Inc. reported fourth quarter earnings of $251 million compared to $301 million in the same period the previous year.
Sales for the fourth quarter were $5.4 billion, flat compared to the previous year.
The company also reported an $881 million profit for its 2009 fiscal year on sales of $19 billion.
The year's sales increased from $18.3 billion the prior year and the company's profit increased from $772 million over the same period.
Same-store sales increased by 1 percent compared to the 2008 fiscal year.
