Tips For Effective Mentor Relationships

Many women understand the importance of mentors but aren’t sure how to navigate the relationship once they become a protégé or a mentor.

“Everyone hears advice freely given to get yourself a mentor but nobody tells you what you to do when you get one,” said , which offers leadership and career resources for women by women.

On Thursday, June 4 from 8 to 11:45 a.m. at Bullfinch’s Restaurant in Sudbury there will be a two-part workshop on building effective mentor-protégé relationships.

The first speaker will be Shay Blanchette, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, who will share her experiences about having a mentor as well as being one.

The second speaker will be Colantuono who will lead a workshop called “Master Mentor…Perfect Protégé.”

“I will be sharing a framework that allows mentors to mentor more effectively and helps protégés become more efficient and focus in on how they can best work with their mentors,” she said.

Colantuono said one of the biggest concerns that mentors have is how to share their experiences without imposing their own path on their protégés.

And protégés frequently don’t know how to navigate their relationship with a mentor and may fail to get the most they can of out of the relationship, she said.

The cost including breakfast is $75 for Leading Women GOLD/corporate members, and $89 for Leading Women subscribing members and non-members.

Without breakfast, the cost is $30 for GOLD/corporate members and $45 for subscribing members and non-members.
